	Growing up I was frequently exposed to the whole Happiness Is cartoon campaign, you know, the one with the little boy and girl stating various ideas and physicalities constituting the ultimate state of blissful happiness. Frequently these reminded me of how brittle the human psyche could be and how dependent each human is upon the emotional anchors defined in each individual frame of reference. (Surely the depth of one\'s compliance is directly related to the comprehension of the idea involved) You may be rightly wondering what all this psycho babble has to do with companies, the year of the ox and the human psyche. Let me tell you: The spiraling consumer led 2009 economic slowdown experienced all over the planet will also impact South African Companies in 2009, but not in the same fashion as the US of A. Human nature 101 (in BOER terminology, (or laager mentality?)) circle the ox wagons. The Chinese are coming... Already China is the most active superpower in Africa and from an economic perspective, also the most valuable future trading partner. The emerging and often poor rural African markets are brilliant for the slumbering dragon and the same dragon is also the next major player on this little place we call earth. So for South African companies in 2009? ABBA baby ABBA Money, money, money...
